Kelly and I took a trip to Lynchburg, VA this past week and visited some wonderful folks (Kyle, Care, Anita, Drew, Riley ... thank you so much). Seeing those rolling, blue mountains put my mind at ease for a moment and any fear of the unknown future vanished into the mist that lays daily on those hills.

We swam in a river, ate together, drank a lot of coffee, tore down some plaster, ate together again, went to the farmer's market, played futball, played music, sat around a bonfire, chopped wood, ate together again and again, went to church, and saw lots of kind and hospitable faces.

A good time was had by all.

If you'd like to make your own radio station, check out: Yesterday a car was overzealous and decided to hop the curb. My puppy was simply playing dice on the sidewalk with some alleycats when that drunk baffoon pounded his chest and pushed on the gas. That was all she wrote for my puppy's little leg.

Now, Doctor, I'd appreciate your help in the midst of this horrific scene. Are you in?

Thursday, July 05, 2007

Happy Independence Day

We are free

To destroy ourselves

Lord, be our salvation
Monday, May 28, 2007
"Violence All Around: Happy Memorial Day"

<img title="violence all around" style="border-style: none; It is only then that the final decision is made for or against Christ; and this is true, not only of unbelievers but also of believers. All previous decisions, whether for faith or against faith, are preliminary. The final die is cast beyond our space and time, beyond empirical observation, beyond all speculation about 'good' and 'bad' deaths, when a person loses her or his rootage in this world and passes into the inexpressible transcendence that surpass all words, images, and thoughts. We must trust and hope, although we cannot know, that in this dreadful yet wondrous end and climax of life no one will be lost. And here, even if not before, the offer of redemption is explicit. Thus it is possible to be hopeful and trusting about the ultimate salvation of non-Christians no less than Christians even if one does not think in terms of a primordial, pre-reflective experience of Christ's grace."

The Nature of Doctrine by George A.
